The African Union (AU) seeks to promote unity, economic progress, and international cooperation among African nations. However, a recent AU committee session proved otherwise.
Firstly, the delegate of South Sudan’s lack of response and utter failure to propose concrete actions were particularly disappointing, highlighting their unpreparedness. While tackling the serious issue of the Somalia civil war, the delegate ought to have extensive knowledge on the subject. The fact that human lives are involved makes one question the reliability of AU and its ability to discuss feasible solutions. However, seeing the lack of enthusiasm and knowledge, it seems as if the delegates will be staring into blank space when they are asked to create resolutions, going deep into consternation about issues irrelevant to the topic at hand, much like a senior citizen lounging on an armchair, waiting for death. In this case, the death is the failure of AU, which is also inevitable.
To add to the exemplary tales of foolishness and ignorance, the delegate of Angola’s arguments lacked a clear structure, racking the minds of the chairs. Many delegates seemed lost during the moderated caucus, needing prompts from the chair. The number of lost delegates in the committee makes one wonder whether they are striving to solve the issue at hand or create a new standard of incompetence for themselves that they will effortlessly exceed soon.
In conclusion, the session exposed notable organisational flaws and the severe incapability of the delegates(to say the least).
