Sitting in on WHO’s second committee session, one understands that these delegates think money grows on trees. They believe that they deserve all the funding for their preferred organisations and healthcare systems, despite providing almost no assurance that they could successfully combat pneumonia and child malnutrition!
The delegate of the US brings this up during his GSL speech, mocking Iran for appealing for funds from other countries despite having zero structure to their healthcare system. With no plans in place, did Iran think that countries would spare their hard earned buck for no guarantee of it being used efficiently? Iran then makes it a point to complain about how the US, Yemen and Pakistan want to fund NGOs instead of governments, arguing that NGOs may be corrupt, and that they have no guarantee of these funds reaching the impoverished. HOW IRONIC!! While funding literal terrorists, and with a meagre healthcare budget. It is obvious that there are NGOs that can do a better job on the actual agenda of decreasing child mortality.
Pakistan better pull up their socks and keep up with information and stats. When asked what NGO’s the delegate intends to employ, and what funds were required, the delegate drew short and answered with complete silence. STOP BEING VAGUE! Delegates may easily fall victim to easily avoidable POIs such as this that could possibly lead to them losing all credibility, so get on to it.
