Most of the delegates in the committee did not know what they were doing and there was tons of cross-talking among the delegates. From the random ringing of the delegates’ phones in the committee to a delegate saying that he didn’t know what to talk about even after being called by the Head Chair around 15 times, there was poor organization throughout the committee.
The same points of maritime conservation and the preservation of coral reefs were repeated by EVERY SINGLE DELEGATE. There was not much useful discussion in the committee as most of the delegates gave 30-second speeches and yielded the rest of the time back to the dais. Many delegates started asking for washroom breaks DURING the committee discussion which disturbed the flow of the debate. Moreover, almost ALL the motions for the moderated caucuses that were proposed were on only one and ONLY ONE topic, “EnvIrOnmEntAl iMpacTS.”
We are not sure where this committee discussion will end up, but let’s pray they come to a fitting conclusion, hopefully before this MUN ends.
