The Chair’s futile attempts to manage the GSL was met with eye-rolling apathy. Furthermore, the delegates cowered from addressing POI’s, choosing to perform the cowardly act of yielding their time back to the dais, even when having more than forty seconds left. Has professionalism in diplomacy truly reached such a dismal low?
Amidst the pandemonium, the delegate of Egypt was caught red-handed, engrossed in his phone with the volume cranked up to max. After being reprimanded twice, he continued to brazenly use his device instead of contributing to his bloc’s work. And what was his grand contribution to the committee? A ludicrous proposal to provide free vaccinations to only Egyptian children, revealing a staggering ignorance of the WHO's global mandate. Is this the caliber of insight we expect from international representatives?
Meanwhile, the delegate of Saudi Arabia made a dubious pledge of 5-10 million USD, yet remained conspicuously vague about the source of these funds or the rationale behind such a specific amount. Are we witnessing a serious commitment or just a desperate attempt to appear generous?
Adding to the absurdity, the delegate of Sweden was spotted cross talking right beside the press, shamelessly contributing to the circus-like atmosphere. Is this how serious global health issues are debated, or has the WHO committee become a playground for the uninformed and uninterested?
The session’s disgraceful proceedings have left many questioning the competence and dedication of those involved. Has the art of diplomacy truly been reduced to this farcical display?
