WTO: Weak and Tactless Organization

Writer's picture: GIIS MUNGIIS MUN

During the first committee session for the World Trade Organization (WTO), a majority of the delegates had zero knowledge about the agenda and the proceedings of the committee. Their ineptitude was explicitly displayed when they went completely off-topic during the moderated caucus and general speaker’s list (GSL). A myriad of the motions proposed were ruled out rendering the committee’s progress slower than a snail. Despite the bevvy of times the chairs urged the delegates to speak, no one had come forward to speak during the moderated caucus, possibly due to their oblivious nature. This shocking display of unenthusiasm and a lack of wits effortlessly makes one wonder whether the WTO is in good hands. Only time will tell whether the WTO remain in a rut or progress to find effective solutions.
